When my wife was thirteen-years-old, she dreamed of being Mrs. Simon LeBon, instead she got stuck with me. Now that Duran Duran has gotten back together to release a new album and tour, I may have to keep a closer eye on her!

Tomorrow, Star Wars finally comes out on DVD. From the reviews I've read it will have been worth the wait. However, these are not the films we saw when we were kids, or even the films we saw in theaters a few years ago. Lucas has made several changes and updates on these films much to the chagrin of diehard purists. The changes are supposed to improve the film and reflect Lucas's true vision. I, for one, am excited. "Let the Wookie win."

I'm a new subscriber to Netflix and I will have to say, that I love this service. All the movies I want for $22 a month? What a deal. Check out my movie queue(XML)!

A year ago today one of the greatest American music icons and one of my personal idols, Johnny Cash passed away. Johnny Cash was the voice of the common man, the voice of the outlaw, the voice of faith, the voice of America. I had the great pleasure of seeing him perform and to shake his hand after the show. I honestly felt that night, and still feel today that I shook the hand of the originator of cool, a true individual, a great man, a legend.

Live shows from Guided By Voices' "Electrifying Conclusion Tour" are beginning to pop up on the web. For the tech savvy, you can download the bit torrent files from last nights show in Washington DC. It's a great show and sounds great!

This week Apple revealed the new iMac G5. Once again, Apple has designed a beautiful computer that will never sell as well as it should. Never the less, this is one gorgeous machine. Daddy likes!!

A documentary on one of my favorite authors Frederick Buechner has been released on DVD. Check out the website where you can download the first 15 minutes of the film. Buechner does a much better job of explaining my faith than I could ever do. What an amazing man, with a unique way of sharing the most important message. If you don't download anything this year, download this video just to listen to the first two minutes.

Next Tuesday, "Clerks X" will be released on DVD. It looks to be a really cool DVD set with tons of extra features. In other "Clerks" news, Kevin Smith announced that he is working on a sequel to the indie classic. What's the deal with these guys making sequels then to thirteen years after the original? First we had Richard Linklater's "Before Sunset" and now Smith's "The Passion of the Clerks". Sounds like someone has hit a creativity wall.

In total obsession news...The hands-down number one Guided By Voices fan, vladnabok, was the high bidder for Bob Pollard's #8 "Propeller" LP on eBay with the final bid of, get this, $6,200!! If money were sense then this person would be the smartest person in the world. Unfortunately for vlandnabok, they seem to have more money than sense.

Vincent Gallo and Roger Ebert make-up and are pals now.

"Look! Up in the sky! It's a bird! It's a plane! No, It's Jesus!!!!" That's right, rumor has it that Jim Caviezel will be filling the cape and tights in the next Superman movie. No conformation from Warner Brothers yet, but the word on the message boards is that it's a done deal.

The second new Pixies song since 1991's Trompe Le Monde has found its way on the net. The song, "Ain't That Pretty At All" sounds much more like the Pixies of old than their earlier release, "Bam
Thwock".

Tomorrow Guided By Voices last album "Half Smiles of the Decomposed" will be released. I've listened to it several times and it's a great album. The first five tracks are some of the best by Mr. Pollard and company and the closer is, well...I can't think of a better way to close out the most prolific career in Rock N' Roll! Twenty years, sixteen albums, sixteen EPs, three box sets (one with 100 unreleased songs) and numerous singles. No other band even comes close in the quantity of music released. In tribute of such a amazing career, Chromewaves.net has several GBV covers by artists such as Superchunk, The Breeders, and Jimmy Eat World. The songs are free to download but will only be there for a week, so move fast! Thanks for many happy years of music GBV! Long live
Rockathon!!!

Don't know whether to buy ESPN NFL 2K5 or Madden NFL 2005, well Gamespot has a great article that places the two games in a head-to-head battle to see which will be the best of the year. My pick would be ESPN NFL 2K5. The game has the best graphics, the best online leagues, cool presentation, fun game play, and only costs $20!!

It's here! Yahoo Movies has the first trailer for Wes Anderson's new movie "The Life Aquatic With Steve Zissou". I can't tell you how excited I am about this movie. Wes Anderson's films are always creative, interesting, and tap into a strange mix of emotions. After watching this trailer three times, I think Anderson has done it again!

I don't know why I like Har Mar Superstar, but I do. Maybe it's because his latest single, 'Body Request', reminds me of the crappy top 40 songs that played on the radio when I was ten-years-old and hanging-out at the Leitchfield Community Pool eating Frito's with mustard. If I didn't know better, I would of thought this song was from 1984! As Fluxblog put it, "'Body Request' is straight-faced enough to fit right in with hits by Billy Ocean or Rick
Astley".

Lily Kate celebrated her "Half Birthday" this past weekend. Wow! It's hard to believe that she is six-months-old! She had two parties in celebration. She had one party at home with Sally and me and one with her Granny and Pepaw Foster. Here are some photos from those parties.

Went and saw Napoleon Dynamite today. It is by far the funniest movie I've seen in a long time. Now, this movie is not for everyone, but if you're a fan of movies full on quotable one-liners, then you'll love this film. "Can I have your tots?"
................
My good friend Eric and his boys came to visit this weekend. I haven't seen them in almost two years and it was great to hang out and catch up. We took the boys out to dinner at GattiTown for some great pizza and video games.
................
Lily Kate finished her first full week of daycare on Friday. She is adjusting better than we could ever imagine. However, that is how she is. She is amazing. She adjusts and handles everything so well. New people, bad colds, hearing aids, daycare? No problem. None of this has stopped her from being such a good girl. She is constantly giving smiles and is just so happy. She teaches me so much about life everyday. I hope one day that she will know just how much she has taught me. I've never loved anyone so much.
